Japanese VR title “Project LUX” is up on Steam for HTC Vive (and then Oculus Rift on the Oculus Store and Playstation VR at a later date). More of a 3D animated story title, this title is made from the people of WORLD END ECONOMiCA series, Spicy Tails.
The crime… is murder.
Our story takes place in a court trial, set in a futuristic world where most humans have cyberbrains. The defendant on trial is an agent who coordinates with artists to create the data for cyberbrains to interact with people’s emotions. The victim is a girl artist named Lux. The jury has to investigate what really happened by reliving the memory data of the defendant.
This title is more of an experience than a game. In this 5 episodes title, you are put into the shoes of an agent (voiced by Teruaki Ogawa) as he interact with Lux (voiced and mo-capped by Aimi Tanaka). Lux is designed by Luna Tsukigami, and the title is published by Sekai Project.
Project LUX provides a movie length experience, and no use of motion controllers. There are choices in this game, and you simply make your selection by gazing your head at it.
This experience is still in Early Access, with 3 to 6 months of work to be done, as the developer and Sekai Project work together to improve the controls, making it more intuitive to western audiences and the UI elements. When it morph into a final project, it will be released for the Playstation VR.
