Cyberdrifter is releasing over Steam today (6pm GMT)! This is a fast paced, futuristic shooter action VR title for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift developed by independent, Scotland-based VR studio UziGames (creator of Marlene Act1: Betwixt), run by a sole developer Scott Wilson.
Cyberdrifter puts the player into the shoes of well, a cyberdrifter by the name of “Jack Torrents”. As a military trained computer specialist, you are tasked to do battle in a virtual world against a AI program which has gone rogue after becoming self aware, as you attempt to take back system control from the AI. As a fast paced shooter title with full locomotion controls, you can expect lots of action going around in this Tron-like environment.
This game is currently in early access state at the moment, and features a fully playable tutorial, an opening level and a full level with a boss. There was suppose to be one more level which is very close to completion, but didn’t made it in time for this early access release (well, it will be added in the near future though as soon as it is finished) UziGames estimate that it will take 6 to 8 months to push this title out to full release status, with 10 fully playable levels and the inclusion of more enemies and bosses as well. VR players can also expect elements like multi-player component, a leaderboard and voice-over too.
Several screenshots and a trailer has also been released to accompany the release of this game. You can check them out below.
