White Lotus Interactive Shares Update On “XING: The Land Beyond”

Remember XING: The Land Beyond? It was one of an early announced title for VR (according to its web site, the game was kickstarted in March 2013), and there hasn’t been any new major update these months from its developer White Lotus Interactive, save for being on display on PSVR display kiosk and a new Steam Page back in February.

This is rather not surprising, as the game is being developed by 3 person across multiple platforms, not to mention the impressive graphical presentation.

If you are unfamiliar with this title, XING: The Land Beyond is an atmospheric first person puzzle adventure title. In this title, you play as a dead entity, who is to embark on a brand new journey of the afterlife across a series of mysterious lands (deserts, forest, volcanoes, mountains and more), freeing other spirits trapped in the in-between alongside at the same time.

There will be puzzles to solve, exploration to make, and not to mention the various powers you get (such as manipulating snows and rains for puzzle solving purpose).

In the latest blog post, XING introduces its latest team member who will be helping with the community management, and promises a more closer look and more regular update of the game.

One of the largest parts of XING’s development is building it for the many platforms it’ll be available on. We must individually test each new build on PC, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, PS4, and PS VR to make sure there are no sudden bugs or gameplay issues popping up for one or more platforms. For example, one problem that sprang up recently was that the save feature was malfunctioning in only the VR versions of the game, and so we had to continuously debug to find out and fix the issue. On top of that, we are also making sure that the non-VR experience isn’t any worse than the VR experience, and vice versa. Despite these challenges, we are firmly committed to emphasize both quantity and quality with XING’s platforms.

The team is also currently optimizing the title so VR users doesn’t require a top-of-the-line PC to run it. While we still have no date on when it is releasing, it is a little more assuring that development is still being actively work on.

XING: The Land Beyond will be releasing on Steam, Oculus Store and Playstation 4, with optional VR compatibility for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Playstation VR.
