The crew of Straw Hat Pirates is set to debut on the Playstation VR soon, after appearing multiple times in traditional flat screen video game format in the video game industry. If you have no clue whatever it is, One Piece is a manga series by Eiichiro Oda, that appeared 2 decades ago. The main protagonist is Monkey D. Luffy, who aspire to be the king of pirates by seeking out the One Piece. Along his adventure, he recruited a rag-team crew members on board his ship, and dub themselves the Straw Hat Pirates.
According to the latest issue of Shonen Jump, the title is set to be exclusive for the PSVR, with its codename being “One Piece: Grand Cruise“.
The game seems to depict ship exploration, so I guess its fine to assume there will be exploration and interaction with the casts of the One Piece. Gameplay information are not revealed, but a demo is set to be available for play as part of the Tokyo One Piece Tower event at Tokyo Tower on 22nd July.
Interestingly to say, this is not One Piece’s debut in VR at all. Shueisha has recently brought several of VR titles based on its properties to Japan Character VR Matsuri at Anime Exo 2017 recently, that includes “One Piece Cube” for the Oculus Rift + Touch. That title lean more towards being an experience than a game though, as according to description, you pick up One Piece Illustrations with your own hands, and build 3D puzzle of Chopper, one of the characters in One Pieces tory.
