Let me start this off as a prefix: This article is NOT referring to the “Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV” title that was announced at E3 2017 this year.
With that out of the way, yes, I am referring to the Final Fantasy XV: Episode Prompto, the VR experience that Square Enix showcased last year, whereby you control one of the game’s cast of characters and take down the massive creatures while teleporting to various pre-determined spot in the game. This was originally intended to be a DLC for the based RPG game. The company even released a trailer, which you can view below.
At Playstation Experience SEA that took place in Malaysia recently, Wan Hazmer (lead Designer of FF15) confirmed that the this VR experience has been canned.
This is nothing that’s really sad or disappointing though (at least personally), as that demo has gathered quite some negative receptions on the show floor. In addition, they have just announced Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV a while back, which is a seperate title of its own and sounds like it will serves as more than a worthy replacement and is more promising.
Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV will launch on September exclusively on the Playstation VR.
