Once domesticated, you can issue commands to make them help you in various way, such as riding them and hunt down other dinosaurs or creatures. They can also be mated with opposite gender as well, allowing you to create the next generation of their species.

ARK: Survival Evolved features a Food, Water, Temperature and Weather system too. You need to eat and drink to survive and execute physical actions, including long distance travel too. Inventory weight makes you move slower, and the day/night cycle and weather adds an additional layer of gameplay mechanics to the game. Of course, in under extreme conditions you will have to find ways to keep yourself alive, such as building fire to keep yourself warm when it is cold, or having to drink prevent yourself from getting heatstroke.

You will be able to create ramps, beams, pillars, windows, doors, gates, remote gates, trapdoors etc that provide various functions. You can also customize the visual of your home, as they can be painted too. Shelter is a great way to protect yourself from extreme weathers, or any dangers that may lurk around.

Besides hunting, you can also plant crops and farm for food too. These edibles can be used to cook a plethora of logical recipes and make useful tonics, allowing you to generate food resources without needing to resort to violent manner.
